| OUR FINE SOLDIERS IN AFGHANISTAN, ENJOYING MILLIE'S BISCOTTI |
30 Sept 2011Hi Millie’s, Greetings from Kabul Afghanistan. My
father had the fortune to meet you there in Bradenton Florida, and that facilitated your great biscotti making it all the
way to downtown Kabul , Afghanistan (and it was a long trip)As you might imagine while fighting
a war and rebuilding a nation, we, your Armed Services and all of our NATO friends, do not often have the ability to stop
and have a nice biscotti and coffee. In fact we never before have had the ability to enjoy a nice homemade
proper biscotti while here.We are all very appreciative
that you took the time and effort to remember us and gift us with such a great edible honor. I have invited
our warfighters and trainers to my building in the morning (s) to share the biscotti…..I’m supplying the coffee….it
is a stand in for a good espresso….and the smiles abound. We will ration them out so that
they last awhile. This little taste of home, which actually made it over here in good condition, reminds
us that there are caring citizens back home and that the freedoms we have as Americans are the best in the world. As I am often in the downtown Kabul area, and I can guarantee you the people of Afghanistan
have never seen nice homemade biscotti…..maybe that is why they are discontent….although I will not be sharing
these with the Taliban and insurgents.Thank you.U.S. Army,
Lieutenant Colonel Joe Pagnotta
